<< Dear Balabhadra Prabhu,

I am resending this letter because a incomplete version was accidentally

sent

to you. Please read this form of it. Thankyou

Please accept my obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

I'm glad you contacted Vipramukhya M. It was myself who told Hare Krsna

dasi

he was coming to Vancouver. Hopefully his report will satisfy you that

Saranagati did not assist in the killing of any cows and is doing the best

possible.

.

Talking to a Saranagati member who was in town the other night I found out

that the beef cattle do extensive damage to Saranagati property and crops.

Bhava said that fencing does not even stop the bulls who can get through

almost any fence, unless electrified. He said the bulls ravaged Bala

Krsna's alfalfa field which much money and time had been spent on, for one

example. It will be interesting to see if the devotees still get a tax

break

because of the beef cattle. Three years ago when I inquired, one of the

problems was that even though the devotees were doing agriculture (growing

of

grains and vegetables) as well as having a milk cow, it did not count as

agriculture to the tax people because it was being done for subsistence

instead of profit. The gov't tax office decided on how much agriculture was

being done by the monetary profit realized from it. These are only some of

the obstacles the devotees confront. As Viprmukya M. said, the story is

far

more complicated than has been presented so far.

Would you explain to me how paying the government $10,000., (which the

devotees didn't have) and which the gov't would not necessarily use

auspiciously, would have been a better situation. Sarangati didn't kill any

cows, nor did it assist in killing any cows. It only received a donation

from its neighbour in the form of a tax credit. Srila Prabhupada accepted

donations from all kinds of sinners and used the profit in promoting

spiritual goals. What did you think of the analogy of the Baker, nazis and

prisoners from my Nov. 10th post?

Hoping everything is good for yourself, Chaya, Laxmi, and Baladeva, as well

as all the cows and brahmanas in your area.

Begging for your blessings,

your servant, friend, and godsister,

Lola devi dasi >>
