A double culture?

Once a test was done on African kids. They had to execute a work suitable

and considered intelligent in their own culture; to decide in the choice of

medicinal plants that they were familiar with. They had also a classical

test (as performed in Western countries). The kids who obtained the best

results to the tests in relation to their African culture got the worse

results with the Western standard tests, and inversely. I have read that in

a magazine called Scientific American. I recalled it because of the way the

author put its question: this effect, is it du to the education which

transmit either an African culture, or either a Western Culture, but never a

double culture?
