Insulted by a Cussing Mother

Dear Guru-Krishna prabhu,

 

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

 

I had not seen these other texts. If I had, I probably would have complained

to the moderator of the particular conference. Did you make a complaint? There

has to be some minimum standard of etiquette in our speech and our writing. At

the very, very least, if you have to, take the sinful expression and replace

key letters with "*" (e.g., "motherf****r" or "sh*t") But better not do write

or speak these words at all. Now, Mother Madhusudani Radha may have been, as

you say, "crass" in writing that which you've quoted below, but does that make

her a "shameless madwoman?" Even if you harbor that idea, should you express

it publicly?

 

If Mataji is going beyond the bounds of propriety, there are channels to make

your appeal through. (As far as I know, some devotees have made that appeal

and it is being heard - and taken seriously.) To excoriate her by calling her

ill names is not going to make your argument any stronger. Indeed, it makes

you seem a little vulgar yourself.

 

It is always best to keep a civil tongue - especially when dealing with

devotees, however wayward they may be. There is always a risk that Lord

Krishna will not take kindly to your attacks, however justified and "Vedic"

you may personally think them to be.

 

If you insist on applying the label "shameless madwoman," it would have served

your purpose better to say something like "this type of speech is indulged in

by women who are shameless and mad; therefore, Mother Madhusudani Radha has

made a mistake in doing so."
