Haribol guys

While male bashing is a great sport, lets just say the guys aren't

aware that they are being, ..... well, insensitive clods! They are following

millennia old traditions. We do need to educate each other. I'll bet you

let the guys split the fire wood and do the oil change and dig trenches

without demanding to do that. They let you cook and clean. Both are

honorable, however .... I don't like being told YOU CAN'T DO THAT YOU ARE A

WOMAN! I think that is what rubs us the wrong way. I especially find it

rather demeaning to be treated like a second class citizen, just because I

can crank out a kid or two. The men to their credit do go off to war to

"protect us" but they like the system the way it is. It is great for them.

We get to do the mind numbing scut work and they come home and announce that

the eight hours they spent in the office was exhausting we who have been in

the company of babbling children and barking dogs doing all the "house work "

and child care and income taxes and doctor visits and cook and clean. They

see us as sitting around all day watching TV and eating chocolates and

reading trashy novels. They envy us too all that free time and ease. But

all in all lets not get into too much of an orgy of male bashing, while it is

fun, it is unproductive. If you don't like your circumstances change them!

You make your own conditions of life. If you want someone to change your

life for you it will never happen. You must fight for what you want, if it

is too much trouble then you have made your choice, quit sniveling and get on

with it!

I see a bumper sticker on red Indian trucks all the time. "Before the

white man came, men hunted and fished all day and the women did all the work,

then the white man came and improved things and it has been down hill ever

sense."

Dear Carol,

I hope you know that I was *kidding* above. Even though there was no ;-)

To me, being in a relationship means you serve each other, according

to your individual talents and skills. Sometimes this will follow sex

role stereotypes, sometimes not. The main thing is we serve each

other (as well as guru and Krsna of course) to the best of our

abilities and that the couples themselves are content with their role

division.
