What we learn from SP is that the gurukula education was based primarily upon spiritual practices: brahmacari gurukule vasan danta. The boys learned to control the senses, to see all women as mother, to cultivate spiritual knowledge, etc. As they grew older, they were trained in a specific varna according to their specific natures. As for being prepared for grhasta life, I humbly challenge you to point out a better system of edcuation for that purpose than gurukula. But that you will not find. >But, if we have only flaming idiots who don't know how to drive a superexcellent >vehicles, then I think we have to give them some kind of simpler car which they can >manage, that they don't end up driving into the walls. Ys. Sraddha dd No, mataji. The example is to show that *even* given the *best* vehicle, an incompetent driver will cause havoc. Gurukula is the best vehicle for education. Next step then is to properly choose/train the teachers. --gkd
