Guest guest
Dear Mahanidhi and everyone, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! Well, let's put an interesting spin on this repartee about ball-playing and zombies. I went to visit His Holiness Hrdayananda Maharaja (Guru-Krsna prabhu's initiating guru) when he was in Alachua. Maharaja stayed in the trailer home of a godbrother. Someone had set up a volleyball net outside, and Maharaja and a group of his disciples and wellwishers were engaged in a very lively, competetive game of volleyball. Let me state emphatically that Maharaja plays such sports on doctor's orders. He was advised to get regular exercise to protect his health, which had been in jeapordy. He also allows only a very limited amount of time for it. It's not that he's playing ball for hours. Personally, I think his disciples were very happy to have the chance to play with him, in this way serving him by providing him good exercise. But you know, it was obvious to me they were all having fun - and I was very happy for them. I wonder if, in Guru-Krsna's mind, this kind of ball-playing doesn't count because you're using your hands instead of your feet. (I couldn't resist that one!) He also allows only a very limited amount of time for it. It's Others may decide to practice such sports before their health is in jeopardy. It is common sense. As a matter of fact two of the main recommendations from doctors to stay healthy are: 1) getting enough fiber in your diet, and 2) doing exercise regularly (at least three times per week). Lack of exercise is what makes many leaders in ISKCON look 10 or 20 years older than their real age. And I can't start to speculate its effects in their mind. Volleyball , serving the guru , too funny LOL (for those not familiar with the game - the ball comes into play by a player who "serves" the ball to the opposing team)
