First one slight, but important correction: The requests here were not been in regard to a woman *taking* the varna of her husbend (you can also "take on" your pigame when going to your bed, becouse that's more confortable situation for you). The question was about *determning* the varna of a girl/woman. > ________ > Therefore, according to Vedic system, a boy born in a brähmaëa family, he > is allowed all the saàskäras, reformatory, purificatory process, but the > girl is not. Why? Now, because a girl has to follow her husband. So if her > husband is brähmaëa, automatically she becomes brähmaëa. There is no need > of separate reformation. And by chance she may be married with a person > who is not a brähmaëa, then what is the use of making her a brähmaëa? That > is the general method. So therefore the, even born in a brähmaëa family, a > woman is taken as woman, not as brähmaëa. But Kåñëa says, “Never mind. > Even if she is woman, even she is çüdra, even she is vaiçya, or any other, > I mean to say, family born in, never mind.” Çré Çré Rukmiëé Dvärakä-nätha, > Deity Installation, Los Angeles, July 16, 1969 The fact clear like the Sun in the zenith on the bright sky, is that Srila Prabhupada instituted samskaras like brahmin initiation for the women in ISCKON, independently and regardlessly of their marital situation and the varna of their husbands. Here Prabhupada tells us about the general method of the Vedic system. And then he says, right away, "But Krsna says, 'Never mind.'" Do you mind? I don't. Krsna says. Prabhupada says. It should be good enough for us. Or? - Mahanidhi das.
