And I was wondering how is it that some Krsna conscious

non-materialistic member of the conference is not yet

complaining...

You might be surprised to get knowing that even our GBCs and ISKCON

gurus are discussing the Kosovo situation. I myself have just seen

several texts on an another forum (that you are not a member of)

where such exchange took the place.

Varnasrama dharma IS about materialistic topics also. World

politics, wars, global crises, economies, and like that, IS supposed

to be the part of varnasrama dharma. You can't just drop it aside

all together as "materialistic topic". What kind of varnasrama

dharma you think to implement if you get disturbed about anything else

in this world that is not directly Krsna's lila? But, yes, perhaps you

are right that this is not the best place to discus it (so would not be

free forum either) since it is, according to your hint, maya. And

maya doesn't have the place in ISKCON, and devotees get disturbed

when maya is being discussed. Because they want to "always remember

Krsna". They don't like to get interrupted in their meditation by

some world crises, some millions of people being abused....

I understand that. That is why many join ISKCON (I did so, at least).

They want to simply forget all about everything around them. To them

not to miss one morning shower is more important than wether there

is going to happen a global world war or not and wether millions of

people are going to die. (It will not happen in Australia anyway)

At least notice that discussion went short, it was about exchange

of some basic informations (devotees like to be informed), it went

among several devotees without any confrontation and personal

picking on each other (something that is almost impossible in

some "non-materialistic-topic" discussion, say, jiva's fall down),

in one word - nothing of the disturbing character. Except that it

was, of course, about the present biggest world crises that may

lead to the global catastrophe, something that a certain type

of ISKCON mentality translates as "Who cares, I got my japa

beads." That is also OK. But I would suggest to sometimes show

a bit tolerance to those devotees who happened to exchange

some non-ISKCON topic for a while. Assume that to them it makes

some importance (since they are not yet on that highest level of

total renunciation from the materialistic life), so let them. You

simply don't have to take part in, nor to read (or listen). Thus

it is all fine and everybody is happy. Just some tolerance for

other fellow family members, that's all.
