Guest guest
Hare Krsna dasi ***************************** As I struggle to finish the formatting of Prabhupada on Varnasrama and Farm Community Development, Vol. 1, I realize that I will soon be working on Vol. 2, and I will need to get graphics for it. I am planning to have my daughter, Maharani dasi, make some pen and ink drawings of various brahmanas and ksatriyas for this volume, as it is the volume which contains Srila Prabhupada's instructions on Brahmanas and Ksatriyas (similar to her drawing of Lord Nrsimhadeva in the last issue of BTG). I have some ideas of who I would like to include, but I'd also like to get some input from devotees on this conference. If you like, could you please list 5 brahmanas and 5 ksatriyas that you think would be good to illustrate. Probably these would be your personal favorites -- but you also might feel like negative examples like Vena and Sucaracarya would be good to discuss certain points. Also, you may want to combine 2 people in one picture. When you list a person, it would help if you could write a one or two sentence caption indicating why that particular person is important to our understanding of varnasrama. Write for someone not too familiar with Krsna consciousness -- like Bhakta Joe, who has just been coming to the temple for the last month or so. You don't have to say a lot. Remember, the idea is that these pictures will call attention to the different quotes that Srila Prabhupada says about these people (I'd say "devotees," but as I mentioned, you may want to include some demons for sake of instruction) so you don't have to say a lot. Also, the only 20th century brahmana who I am considering illustrating will be Srila Prabhupada -- so I can make room for pictures of people he discusses in the Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrta. Thanks for helping me out with this. I hope this will be a fun project for us all to work on. And it will help me decide who to try to include in the pictures. Anyone can submit -- even all you shy folks out there! your servant, Hare Krsna dasi
