Guest guest
With Malati prabhu's permission, here is a quote from her dated Tue, 20 Apr 99: I have definitely renounced my false renunciation. It is a moot point for me. There was a time when all unmarried ladies wore saffron during Srila Prabhpada's time, so the colour of my sari is nothing unusual within our movement. I have promised one sannyasi god-brother not to worry, however, that I have a white sari and I will wear it upon my death bed, as per tradition. In a later post, she humorously noted that she does NOT wear "saffron." The color she uses is called "pale desert sunset!" To summarize: 1. Does Malati prabhu consider herself a sannyasi or sannyasini? -- No she doesn't. 2. Why does she wear "saffron"? -- It is a tradition that existed during Srila Prabhupada's time that all unmarried ladied wore saffron. Unless anyone can find any quotes from Srila Prabhupada prohibitting women from wearing saffron, it seems that Malati prabhu has been unfairly maligned on this account, since she is simply following an older ISKCON tradition. your servant, Hare Krsna dasi Robert Cope wrote: > [Text 2248503 from COM] > > And finally, since I know Mother Malati corresponds to this conference since > I have seen previous submissions to her: do you still consider yourself a > sannyasini?
