We all have free will, and of course the entire process of spiritual life is based on voluntary loving service, so there should be no question of any cooercion. The problem is that we are so used to an institution that tries to force falsehood down out throat, that we forget this. ISKCON cannot legislate who we are to love and worship, (although I am not sure if all the leaders realise this yet.) > All the same, installing a 'Krsna Loving sadhu' as an official fixture in > our life will not gaurentee an absense of 'endless politics, innuendo, > cheating, self glorification etc'. These things go on the the Gaudiya Math > as well as in ISKCON during Prabhupada's physical presence. Further, they > went on during the Vedic glory days of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Certainly, when the sadhu appears, that is when the challenge begins. I was just joking with my brother in law yesterday, that we will pray and pray for this pure bhakta, and then when he appears, suddenly it will be like, Oh No, now we have to surrender! Without surrender to such a person, you cant get anywhere. It is described that guru gives two things. Kripa (mercy) and Vanchana (cheating). If your guru tells you to do some service, and you say, 'well guru maharaja, I would like to do that, but I have this problem', so he says 'what do YOU want to do then', 'Oh gurumaharaj I want to do this thing and that thing'. So he will agree, 'Ok you do'. So that means you got cheated.
