I thought there was no loss or diminution? Ajamila was chanting the Holy Name without any consideration of the Lord whatsoever and the Bhagavatam states that even if one is the greatest of sinners the best thing to do to atone is chant the Holy Names of the Lord. If people cannot take up "advanced" spiritual life due to whatever kinds of material contamination they may have what better method of cleansing is there than chanting the Holy Names of the Lord until they are clean? And who is to say when they should be clean enough to get out of the shower? What is the timetable for this? Does Krsna's mercy run out of time?
