Utlimately the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I don't think the gopis

needed to know whether Krsna was God or not, but that is another matter.

Then there is the issue of a conditioned soul being able to recognize the

qualities of the truly advanced devotees. I believe the story of Gadhara

Pandit and Pundarik Vidyanidhi could be relevant in this light -- and by no

stretch of the imagination could Gadadhara Pandit be considered 'conditional'.

 

I would propose the Krsna sends the devotees we need, both 'good' and 'bad'.

Devotional service is always auspicious. We can always find a reason to feel

grateful as devotees.
