Our chickens

We have three chickens in our garden. They have a little house with a fenced

area outside. There is no cock. Whenever I have something from the garden I

throw it to them, it may be grassclippings, roots, turfs, anything organic.

They eat what they like, snails, worms, grass, weeds and stir and mix

everything.

After some weeks I can go in with my fork and take out a nice mixture to put

in a heap for composting. It´s been mixed with their "squirts" a little bit,

so that´s good:)

They also lay quite some eggs - we fry them outside on a bonfire on a pan

and feed the "wild" cats that are hanging around our house.

These chickens are quite nice, especially for our children who loves to feed

them and take them around in the garden. These chickens are not frightened

of us, my son Nandi, 6 yrs, can easily pick them up and hold them.

Since we cannot have cows I thought we needed some source of animalmanure

and this has so far (3 months) worked well.
