We tend to push people into positions of pretentious "advancement" in order that we may feel more "advanced" ourselves if we can gain some popularity or favor from this big-gun. Maybe some of them are still just basic devotees, bhaktas, like so many of us and deserve to be treated respectfully and realistically.
