BUT....

 

As I am sure you would expect from me and, so as to not let you down, I

don't mean to harp on this subject ( Yeah right Janesvara) but when you say,

"I plan to remain loyal to Srila Prabhupada's instructions and patiently

expect his mercy.", shouldn't we really have done a hell of a lot more

regarding his clear concise instructions regarding establishing varnasrama

colleges in EVERY center of his movement and dividing the society into four

varnas for natural guna and karma training?

 

You say you were there in his last days and therefore you certainly recall

his statements regarding varnasrama-dharma? It was the one thing he wished

he had completed. He said half the work was done by him and the other half,

varnasrama-dharma, was to be completed by us.

 

Waiting patiently and "expecting" his mercy but NOT fulfilling his wishes

regarding varnasrama-dharma implementation within the society of devotees

seems like things could take ANOTHER 20 years before we see much

improvement. It seems also a bit selfish.

 

Don't mistake what I'm saying to be support for the "other" camps; I don't

see them working toward fulfillment of these wishes, goals, desires,

instructions of Srila Prabhupada either.

 

I agree with you and Badrinarayana Prabhu that we have everything going for

us in ISKCON, but we have to take advantage of it, too. We cannot rest on

Srila Prabhupada's laurels and we certainly cannot claim too many laurels of

own yet.

 

The best way to prove our "special" advantage of having Srila Prabhupada as

our "main man" which no one else can ever claim, granted us by the mercy of

the Lord, is to manifest the symptoms of an advanced human society - a daiva

varnasrama-dharma society.

 

We have no divisions, though we claim to have "brahmanas", one division is

not divisionS. We could actually show the world the glory of our Vedic

culture; strong, well developed character, occupational loyalty, social

functionality as opposed to dysfuntionality, social consciousness and

compassion in submission to the Lord, productivity and cow/bull culture and

protection, defined human roles of natural engagement in harmony with one's

God-given nature, administrative stability, resourcefulness, heroism, etc.

 

So many nice things. Daiva varnasrama-dharma, to me, is like a ramp; it

bevels down to almost a razor thin edge to allow the greatest of ease of

entrance to all but is always going up. The rate of incline may be of an

almost infinitesimal percent for some but an invisible wall is erected

behind every step taken up the ramp so that, while lateral movement may

sometimes be temporarily experienced with very gradual forward movement up

the ramp, never does one go back down the ramp.

 

Para-upakara of Lord Caitanya extends and slips this ramp under the feet of

all in Kali yuga. Prabhupada said this is the varnasrama-dharma institution

and it is the most auspicious program.

 

Let's not wait forever for Prabhupada "mercy"; lets beckon it with our

fulfilling his wishes. It seems only fair.
