> Even in Vedic times there were many examples of brahmanas who were off.

Therfore there where also ksatriyas who knew wath to do with such

"brahmanas", I think.

> I have also heard that one of the responsibilities of the king is to see >

that the brahmana's are properly engaged.

Where are the ksatriyas in our society who do the same?

I hope so.

Maybe you could explain to us a lttle moore what you mean by a "mature

brahminical sub-culture"

> If the brahmanas actually know their craft, they will naturally become

> more influential than the ksatriyas -- the masses will love and feel

> indebted for what they bring to society.

Certainly the teachers and preastly class was always and should always be

properly respected and apreciated in every society.

> There is also the

> old American (I believe) saying: "The pen is mighter than the sword."

Thats also why in todays society the military is controled by civil

politicians and in the vedic times by the brahmanas.

If the pasionate nature of the ksatriyas is not controled by obediance to

the brahmana class that may create also problems in the society.

Therefore to have qualified and well educated brahmana teachers in the

society is a great asset from all points of view.

> Anyway, we claim VAD is the most sophisticated form of human culture, thus

> it is no small wonder that we appear to have only taken 'baby steps'

> within the few years of ISKCON's existance.

> > How about the "class consciousness" of some brahmanas in our movement

> >is that bonafide acording to the Bhagavad-gita, to force everyone to >

>think and act only like them, and call that Krsna consciousness?

> In fact, it was this very mentality that destroyed VAD and began the

> onslaught of Kali-yuga, as per the story of brahmana boy cursing Maharaja

> Pariksit.

I dont understand, would you say that the fact that not everyone acted and

thought like a brahmana was the cause of the distruction of VAD

I mean in the social structure of society.

> Again, without a mature and realized brahminical community, the proper

> tone for VAD will not be set. Without that proper tempo, the entire things

> will collapse, with or without ksatriya endorsement.

Please explain what you mean by this.

> Developing and maintaining a healthy brahmincial culture is the single

> most important element of VAD,

No doubt about it. But should everyone try to become a brahmana even if it

is against his nature?

>and real Vedic ksatriyas understood the

> significant dynamics of this relationship between the brahmanas and

> society at large.

So we need proper ksatriyas aren,t we?
