Maybe. Sudras rally can screw it up, if you let them into the temple, and they remain as sudras anyway. No a suitable job for them. Just those horrifying brahminical activities. Go modifying the temple to their nature. Anyway. My point was that we forget ourselves, our initial ideals, motivations, enthusiasm, courage, readiness on the austerity, patience, tolerance... of the time when we made a decision to live in the Hare Krsna temple. There were no surprises what to be found there, really. And now, we are out, crying, lamenting, full of bitterness, full of grudge and anger against the authorities, and hankering for a "temple" where we could get a job and the life "according to our natural inclinations". > > > So don't live in the temple, if you can't take it. That's all. > > Doesnt sound very compassionate to me prabhu. Sudras shouldnt even try to > become Krsna Conscious by approaching Krsnas devotees? Sounds very realistic. Don't live anywhere, if you cant't take it there. Can't be said more simple than that. If you already choose to make such clear distinctions according to varna, then yes, accept that the temple is NOT the place for sudras to live there. It is for brahmanas. That has nothing to do with "compassion" or "no-compassion". That's a false sentiment. Both you and Janesvara are lamenting so much that the present temple life style does not suit to all varnas. You want VAD. But VAD means no sudras getting training into any brahminical activity. Forget it. NO book distribution for sudras. NO learning Vedic knowledge.... So that later on they will not lament how they were forced to do such brahminical activities. OK, Srila Prabhupada gave the chance to sudras to get into the temple, and into all these activities. But the *expectation* is that you do NOT remain a sudra. If you remain, then you cannot live in the temple, you will be frustraed and will make distrurbance to others. And this is what does happen all the time. So make your mind what you want finally. You want VAD, you find you are not a brahmana, then don't live in the temple. Come on Sunday feasts, come to hear classes, talk to brahmanas, come to see Deities, invite brahmans to home and feed them, and so on. And do your profession for the maintenance of your family. But don't start changing the VAD in the name of VAD. Don't expect that the temple is to be reorganized on such a way to accommodate sudras and brahmanas together. That will never work out. You want a revolution of the present system. Here it is. Only brahmanas to be living in the temple. Next circle for ksatriyas. Next for vaisyas. And the fourth circle for sudras. No mixing. > I prefer Srila > Prabhupadas idea of creating farm communities, where sudras and > grihamedhis can actualy begin their spiritual life, by engaging their > propensities in Krsnas dervice. That sounds like a positive alternative, > and could even increase the preaching in areas where we have not yet done > so. You are telling us what you preferences are. That is OK. One day, I am sure you will get such a place for you (see, I can be optimistic and positive). But hold not your breath waiting the GBC to provide you for such a place. But why did you move to Mauritius anyway? You could go to Alachua. There devotees do not depend on the GBC to organize their community. There is such a place that you are hankering for. > > ISCKON is to be seen much largely as the society. Not just a temple. > > Stop expecting from the temples to be providing people the jobs > > according to their natural inclinations and occupational duties. > > Sheesh, why ever did Srila Prabhupada tell us to set up those varnasrama > colleges? I guess, because it is clear that such institutions are needed. Or what do you think, otherwise? But do not misunderstand a temple for such an occupational college. Really, do not expect that in the temple you got to get training in plumbering or in shooting from a riffle or in banking (in the spirit of KC and Vedas, certainly). And then to get there the job there "in accordance to your nature". I guess, that's why Prabhupada told us to set up "those varnasrama colleges", after all -- not to mistake temple for such institutions. Well, think the reasons for yourself. Not just some "sheesh". - mnd
