What is being proposed is hardly comparable to SP's morning walk conversations, but is, rather, a serious formal debate by the leaders of ISKCON, some of whom have already advanced considerably in their sympathy towards the gay position and who will argue in favor of many of the gay community's arguments. It is pointless to have a debate on any topic by leading devotees without having some conclusion, and if a meeting takes place on the gay issue without a conclusion it will only lend credibility to the gay faction since so many points will be left unanswered. So, it will become a platform to divide ISKCON, since each devotee will hold his opinion, with so many thinking that we have to update SP's opinions, (in the fashion of Mukunda Goswami, " what SP said is not as important as what he would say...etc") and the gays will have gained a foot in the door of public debate at the leadership level. "In like a needle, out like a plow"... it has already happened in karmi society by beginning like this and it will progress in ISKCON in a similar way. Therefore I strongly suggest that any such foolish debate should be avoided at all costs and that the existing GBC statement concerning illicit sex, coupled with SP's own statements about illicit sex and especially homosex, should remain as the final word in which all potential and implied policies regarding expression of sexuality in spiritual life reside.
