Srila, you know I like and respect you, but you've simply got to stop dancing around on this one. Are you saying that ISKCON gurus are second class or lower? If yes: The you are yourself guilty of what you have been accusing others for the past few weeks. If no: Then what on earth is the above example for? > >> As far as I'm concerned, whatever proves to be an inspiration to practice >Krsna consciousness is beneficial. YES! Finally something we can agree on. I too have seen many wilted flowers, especially here in the SF Bay area and I'm happy if they find someone who inspires them in spiritual life. But this insistance that they have found the panacea for the rest of us is starting to get *really* old. I'm very happy with my guru. He has inspired me more in my spiritual life than anyone else - including Srila Prabhupada. He's been there supporting me, encouraging me and gently nudging me along for 15 years. He's answered every crisis letter I have sent him, defended me to others and instructed me to do the service that I feel strongly about. However, he is also very loyal to his godsiblings on the GBC and sees it as his duty to Prabhupada to cooperate with them even if he disagrees with their decisions (and believe me, that spirit of cooperation was seriously tested during the 1999 meetings). He's following his heart on that issue, just like your heart is telling you to follow Narayan Maharaja. I'm not judging you for following your heart. In fact, I'm surprised that in spite of all the criticism you have presented on this conference, I can't remember a single person criticising you for having made that choice. Now this works both ways: You don't get to be judge and jury of those GBC members for whom following their hearts means cooperating with their GBC godbrothers and godsister. Please stop posturing about this issue, acting like you have the answer for everyone else. It's not helping us and it's certainly not helping you and from most of the responses you have received here, I dare say you are not helping Narayan Maharaja either. Rather, I feel like the bumper sticker I saw on a car on my commute today. Although it was addressed to God, I will paraphrase: Narayan Maharaja, please protect us from your followers! Please Srila, you're such a nice person. Why don't you show that side of yourself here? Your friend and servant, Madhusudani dasi
