Schools are not static, they reflect their surroundings, are connected with a society, they change according to teachers qualification or lack of it, parents qualifications and lack of it, governement investments in them and so much more. Simply the name doesn´t make the school. This idea that "we have it all made" is such a brake block on our own progress. And when these boys leave gurukula, what are they going to do? Pujari, sankirtan or potwasher? Anything else? Does anyone know the factual unemployment/employmentrate of children raised in ISKCON? Who are more able to support their family, those raised in gurukula or those who went to other kind of schools? How many can survive and make a living, simply on what they learned in ISKCON ? I believe the people will naturally find their proper places, when a society is established, according to their different capacities. But our problem is, that we have not yet established any society in most places. Thus people are not able to fulfil their duties, occupational or otherwise. It is not because they lack the desire. They lack the facilities. Both my husband and I need to work, so that my family can have housing, food and so on. And the situation of my children does not seem to be any different. So how can we just ignore the culturel setting we live in, unless we really have a better set up? Not just in our dreams, but factually. Your servant Gunamani d.d.
