Guest guest
Well, now that in the heat of debate I have been outed as a soccer player, I guess I will have to deal with that as a public aspect of my life now. Since Guru Krsna has bailed, I do need to clarify one aspect of being a player without him bringing it out. GK revealed he didn't have VedaBase. I should have known, otherwise he would have quoted the following: Sravanananda: At the Ramakrishna Mission school in Madras near a football field, there is one slogan on the arch that says, "The playing of football will bring one closer to heaven than the study of the Gita." Prabhupada: Just see. Has Neccolla(?) carved this? Sravanananda: He said, "Tear up all the big tulasis..." Dr. Patel: Is it a fact? We don't know. Prabhupada: It is a fact if he says. Sravanananda: Yes. It is written right there, it's written right there. They say the playing of football will bring one closer to heaven than the study of the Gita. Prabhupada: Yes, Vivekananda taught this. >>> Ref. VedaBase => Morning Walk -- December 19, 1975, Bombay So despite my advocacy of soccer (football in India), I am not a Mayavadi. I do believe that study of the Gita will bring you closer to heaven than playing soccer. Soccer may be heavenly to play, but Gita will get you closer to heaven itself. Happy New Year. See you if Y2K bugs have been fixed. If not, it was interesting. Hare Krsna
