Wow you really sound holier than thou. Don't get me wrong here, I also love

India, but I am getting alarmed at the rate of decline in Vedic values and

culture. Many oldr people will vouch the same. You can blame tv or western

visitors or whatever, but I think that there are many other factors to be

taken into consideration. A lot of people are sick of religion as they have

seen it, just like many of us when we first joined ISKCON.

If you tried riding an India train these days you would see a lot of locals

ordering 'non veg food'. Also the big M sign is springing up in many places

and it is packed with young people from all sorts of backgrounds (both

village and city). I talk with a friend who happens to be a university

professor, he tells me about the problems of illicit sex and intoxication.

Another friend who is a south Indian Brahmin Astrologer, tells me many

stories of illicit afairs between married people (wife swapping,

relationships with brother etc), intoxication etc and not all from city

people. The point is that people readily take to illicit activities. This is

Kali Yuga and India is not exempt.

I've been coming to India since 1971 and have seen horrendous changes. Yes

blame me and all the other followers of Srila Prabhupada who are attempting

to block the tide of deteriation. We may have our faults but we also try to

rectify them and help some other souls into spiritual life. I do object to

people killing and eating cows, both in the west and in India.

Recently I heard many stories about armed robberies and rapes in Vrindavan.

Cars held up at gun point, mafia style gangs, etc. Things are not so rosey

as you make out.

Things never were. Not only is India the land of Krishna and Rama, but it

is also the land of Kamsa and Ravana. Isvara Prabhu had also pointed out

that there are problems: "Yes, there is always a bad apple in sack. That is

a fact of life. All the abnormalities that may be going on today in India

are confined mainly to the Indian cities which is only 20% of Indians. . . "

I don't see that he is painting a "rosy picture". Of course, that he is

lauding the Vedic culture still intact in India may be what is mistakenly

percieved as a "rosy picture".

Jaya Janesvara! In fact, in His incarnation for this age, He is incarnating on

every continent in the form of His Holy Name!
