I found it interesting that > Srila Prabhupada hesitate to speak to devotees about something that he had > described in KB which he wanted devotees to distribute to people in > general. I guess my question is that why did he then hesitate to speak > about it to devotees. It is hard to say without speculating. But could it be that Srila Prabhupada sensed someone in the audience of devotees who would take it in the wrong way. Maybe someone was thinking: 'Oh we must be very advanced since Srila Prabhupada is speaking to us about these things.' Or maybe he just wanted to make the point that we should not speak of Krishna's intimate pastimes from the Vyasasana. As I understand, he wrote the Krishnabook because he was not sure Krishna would allow him to stay long enough to translate the 10th canto, but he wrote it in such a way that it would not be possible for anyone to misunderstand Krishna's dealings with the gopis and mistake them for ordinary amorous dealings. So it is safe to distribute the Krishna book, but it is not safe for us to speak of Krishna's intimate pastimes from the Vyasasana. That's my take on it, anyway, for what it is worth.
