Guest guest
An interesting text taken from another conference: ........................................................................... > If one would be asking Srila Prabhupada, whether he appreciated the > unfortunate present situation, namely (mostly second generation) devotees > questioning Srila Prabhupada's authority (i.e. the validity of his > statements and writings) as done in a great number of conferences at this > stage he certainly would say no. > > In fact I am pretty sure he would be outraged as much as disgusted with > the perpetrators. > > ...devotees have to be trained not to judge SP by their > > own or others' contaminated standards, but they should judge themselves > > and everyone else from SP's standard. But was it really Srila Prabhupada's standard to judge the other devotees as the perpetrators worthy of disgust? When and how did Srila Prabhupada make such a judgment about "second generation"? The point is that it is us who make our personal judgments about others, and it is us who then become "outraged as much as disgusted with the perpetrators". However, then we wrap it into a cover: "It is not me and my standard, it is Srila Prabhupada". And since it is a priori wrong and offensive to question Srila Prabhupada and his standards, on that way we create for ourselves a perfect "alibi": It is us who are the doers, but it is Prabhupada to be "blamed"! And on that way it happens that Srila Prabhupada gets "questioned". And on that way devotees ("mostly second generation") become the "perpetrators". Here one can see quite a relevant example of the very problem. Though it might not be the case of doubting SP's standard of judging other devotees, but ........prabhu's standard, one will unavoidably become exposed as a doubter of SP's standards. So is with questioning "SP's authority". As much as the authorities/leaders are placing Srila Prabhupada's infallibility/purity in between themselves and the devotees in general that much will appear that it is SP who is being doubted and questioned. The so-called conflict in between "second generation" and Srila Prabhupada, in term of questioning "SP's authority", is clearly nothing else but the conflict in between this same "second generation" and the "first generation". When shall we get enough courage to face it, without pushing Srila Prabhupada in that pithole of ours? Maybe never, since such a practice seems to be unavoidable part of any religious institution in this world. At least, we should be able to recognize it. --------
