Guest guest
Hare Krsna. Please, accept my humble obeisances. some more thoughts on this issue: > Question: Is a person whose life is not centered > around Krsna, but who > follows the regulated principles of different orders > of life, > transcendentally situated? This is to support the argument that only devotee in the stict sense of the term can be above the modes: In B.g.3.30 Krsna instructs Arjuna on the proper mood in discharging his duties: mayi sarvani karmani sannyasyadhyatma cetasa nirasir nirmamo bhutva yudhyasva vigata jvarah Krsna tells Arjuna to surrender all his work unto Him,with full knowledge of the self, free from desires of possessiveness, free from fear - the perfect way to discharge one's duty. This verse shows the transcendental nature of devotional service: a)nirasih, nirmama - freedom from the mode of passion b)vigata jvarah - freedom from the mode of ignorance c)adhyatma cetas - Knowledge of one's constitutional position. Serving Krsna in this way elevates one on the transcendental level. - sa gunan samatityaitan/brahma-bhuyaya kalpate(14.26) One who lacks any of these characteristics in his actions cannot be on the transcendental level, although his participation in varnasrama will give him a chances to ultimately raise on the platform of devotional service. Most probably Srila Prabhupada in his purport was referring particularly to Arjuna's situation. Health - Feel better, live better http://health. Guest guest
I am very sorry Prabhu I didn't read your answer all the way through because of the time factor. You see the thing is that I am doing a BG study where the verse and purport are given: TRANSLATION: The transcendental qualities are conducive to liberation, whereas the demoniac qualities make for bondage. Do not worry, O son of Pandu, for you are born with the divine qualities. PURPORT: Lord Krsna encouraged Arjuna by telling him that he was not born with demoniac qualities. His involvement in the fight was not demoniac, because he was considering the pros and cons. He was considering whether respectable persons such as Bhisma and Drona should be killed or not, so he was not acting under the influence of anger, false prestige or harshness. Therefore he was not of the quality of the demons. For a ksatriya, a military man, shooting arrows at the enemy is considered transcendental, and refraining from such a duty is demoniac. Therefore there was no cause for Arjuna to lament. Anyone who performs the regulative principles of the different orders of life is transcendentally situated. >>> Ref. VedaBase => Bg 16.5 And then there is the following question. Question: Is a person whose life is not centered around Kåñëa, but who follows the regulated principles of different orders of life, transcendentally situated? So the way it is put leads one to the understanding that simply by following prescribed duties of varnasrama one is transcendentally situated although his life may not be directly centered around Krishna.
