True. I just wish that the Child Protection office had money to continue their wonderful work. Apparently the money pledged by the GBC earlier this year simply doesn't exist and the office may have to close down this month, or possibly in March, if some more funds come through from the BBT before then. In light of this, it's easy to see why some of these victims have become cynical. Their lives are shattered and they're struggling to exist as a consequence of the abuse. Then they were promised some help to get back on their feet, only to have that possibility removed again. And to add salt to the wound, none of our leaders who pledged the money are providing any explanations for this turn of events. The victims feel completely ignored and like they only matter when ISKCON wants to defend itself against bad press coverage (that's when the press release about the pledged money was issued) or when they're threatening to sue.
