Guest guest
Hare Krishna, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Perhaps someone on this conference can direct me. I'm researching a chapter for a book which is a comparison between Indian culture and Western culture, and showing how the solutions for both lie within the Vedic culture. I am currently working on a chapter on women and their roles. It shows the western example of the "Sex And The City" culture, as opposed to what the western women would see as 'oppressed Indian women' culture---both of which are rather off in their portrayal of a woman's role. While the Indian culture is no doubt closer to the original, still it's lacking. What I can't find in our books, though, are examples of the inner community of women, where the women are a support network for each other. I find it in the examples of zenana, and although it was a predominantly Muslim custom, it's also found within royalty, especially in Rajasthan. But within a Vedic culture, I don't see any examples of the inner community of women. Can someone help? Your servant Braja Sevaki dd
