Sometimes when I read Srila Prabhupada's books I get more out of it than from hearing his lectures but at other times I get more out of hearing his lectures than reading a specific purport. As for his disciples who had his personal association, even a simple look from him could say more than a million words in any purport or lecture. During lectures Srila Prabhupada would also assess his audience and speak at an appropriate level. Many times Srila Prabhupada would be asked the same questions but he would answer differently, addressing the mentality/mood of the person asking the question. Thank you. Hare Krishna.
