Guest guest
Our gurudeva also told a story once about Narahari Prabhu who was a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami. Narahari Prabhu was not very learned, but he was a very sincere devotee and such an excellent guru-sevaka that all the sannyasis and more learned devotees would bow down at his feet. I met him and saw for myself how he was always chanting, never sleeping, and always doing any type of service at any time. He was the mother of the Gaudiya Matha. He would even take the young boys on his lap, feed them, give them medicine, put them to sleep, and do everything to look after them. In the night he would take a lamp to attend the younger boys, and if one of them had passed urine, no harm, he would clean it up. Everyone knew him as “Florence Nightingale.” Once he was unable to digest anything and became so ill that he was on the verge of death. Our guruji who was Vinoda Brahmacari at that time, took Narahari Prabhu with him to Gurudeva's ancestral home in East Bengal to meet a very famous ayurvedic doctor. After examining him, the doctor said, “This man would have died within two or three days. Anyhow Bhagavan has sent you to me, so first I want to give him one spoonful of ghee.” Our Guru Maharaja said, “He cannot digest even water, what to speak of other things? He will die at once if he takes ghee.” Then the doctor explained his theory: “I will give him ghee knowing that it will pass through him, but some coating will remain in his stomach. I will give him one spoonful twice a day for seven days, this will be his treatment.” After fifteen days they had obtained a good result, and in one month he was totally cured. The reason that I am giving this example is that in our present condition we have no realisation of these higher services to Srimati Radhika which Raghunatha dasa Gosvami is describing here, but by reading it some coating, some samskara, will be established inside us. Then in the future when we develop greed for these services we will be able to genuinely enter into them. So we should read these books and sing these songs, but with immense sraddha and great care. I know that I am not qualified to read these things, yet I cannot stop reading them. Without reading these topics about Krsna and the gopis I cannot live, so therefore I read them. So if you read these books and sing these songs, it will create sraddha and samskara in your hearts, certainly. _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
