Four kinds of jivas

There are four kinds of jivas. Some of them, being covered by avidya, which

can be compared to a cloud, are conditioned souls, and others, freed from

her covering by their knowledge mixed with devotion are liberated souls.

Others, who by devotion which is unalloyed or at least predominant over

jnana and karma have become free from avidya's coverings and also have

attained bodies composed of cit and ananda suitable for engaging in the

Lord's worship, are perfected devotees. Yet others, who are completely

devoid of any connection with avidya, are the Lord's eternal associates.
