How to find the mantra-siddha, maha-bhagavat, uttam-adhikari Sadguru?

There is a very strong doubt in the minds of many many spiritual aspirants

about whether any real sadhu or guru who is on the uttama-adikhari,

maha-bhagavata platform is physically present of this earth at present so

that he can be taken fully shelter of and fully surrendered to.

 

The answer about how to search out, find and achieve the association and

service of such a topmost maha-bhgavata guru (which is the biggest

million-dollar question for every one of us) is given by Shrila

Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada in his classic essay 'Diksha'

in the Sajjana Tosani:

"Reading this essay many people will think that to find a such a

mantra-siddha aprakrta fully self-realized sadguru is indeed very very

difficult in this world. Thus how will we ever find such a sadguru in this

world and even if we find him how will be able to recognize him?

 

It is true that it is very difficult to discrimate who is sadhu and who is

asadhu in this world because nowadays everyone claims himself a sadhu. But

that does'nt mean that there is no real sadhu (pure devotee) in this world.

The pure sadhu is always there but no one has the desire to go and

surrender to him and serve him submissively.

 

The real Gurudeva is not a soul of this material world or a soul encaged in

a material body like most of us. Therefore he does not take birth in this

material world like how all the remaining conditioned souls do? The real

Gurudeva is completely non-different from Bhagavan and is an eternally

liberated associate of the Supreme Lord.

IF ONE HAS A NON-DUPLICITOUS, GUILESS AND INTENSE DESIRE TO ACHIEVE THE

PERSONAL ASSOCIATION (SANNIDHYA) OF A MAHA-BHAGAVATA GURU THEN THE ANTARYAMI

PARAMATMA (SUPERSOUL) WILL SURELY INSPIRE HIS ETERNAL ASSOCIATE

(NITYA-PARSHADA) TO COME AND GIVE DIRECT MERCY TO THE ASPIRING DISCIPLE.

Just remember once the story of the five-year child Dhruva. Bhagavan noticed

the guiless nature and one-pointed determination of Dhruva and inspired His

own eternal associate Shrila Narada to go to Dhruva and give his mercy to

him. In the same way if someone is free from deceit and has one-ponied

determination in his heart, then it will not be rare for him to achieve the

direct association of a Sadguru.

 

brahmanda-bharmite kona bhagyvan jiva;

guru-krsna krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija.

 

The most fortunate soul in the universe receives the seed of pure devotional

service (bhakti) by the mercy of Sadguru and Krishna after revolving for

many many lives throughout the universe in the 8.4 million species of life.
