Guest guest
Pranam, I've found it in the archives: Ys Rosa Foot-bathing Nrsimha Kavaca (das) IDS 25-Sep-94 --------------------------- Does anyone know if Srila Prabhupada ever gave any instructions on the procedure for bathing the feet of Vaisnavas. Recently it has been seen that devotees are doing pancamrta bathing for their spiritual masters. Is it proper to use the products of our mother for such a purpose. I have heard that Srila Prabhupada did not approve of this practice but have been unable to substantiate this. Hari Sauri (Dasa) ACBSP (Alachua, FL) 25-Sep-94 --------------------------- I never heard Prabhupada object to pancamrta being used for foot bathing of Vaisnavas. Milk was certainly used many times for bathing Prabhupada's feet when I was traveling with him. And I would think that mother cow would be very happy to see her produce being used to honor the Lord's representatives. Jayapataka Swami 30-Sep-94 --------------------------- I never heard that Srila Prabhupada didn't like it but in my zone we only use pancamrita during vyasapuja celebrations. For guru reception we use puspajalam (water with flower petals). Jayapataka Swami 04-Oct-94 --------------------------- In summary: one could use water and flower petals for receptions of senior Vaisnavas. This is known as Puspa-jalam. This doesn't make any mess and is simple and easy. The idea is that after bathing the feet of a sannyasi, guru or Vaisnava the water is sprinkled over the head of the family members and those present. that is mentioned in various places in Srila Prabhupada's books and in other historical accounts. [To sprinkle pancamrtam over peoples heads and cloths would require a major cleaning job and overhauling of the cloths.] For Vyasa-puja celebrations when the guru is worshipped as representative of vyasa-deva, the literary incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, if devotees want to ceremonially bath the feet with various auspicious items like pancamrita it is more reasonable and practical to do it once in the year. --------------r-e-k-l-a-m-a----------------- Super tanie kwatery narciarskie.
