To make edits/changes to someone elses books without their personal permission AND put the new book in the original authors name is just plain wrong. If the editors want to write their own versions of the books and put them in their own name I have no objection as I have stated several times previously. > > They are his books and we do not have the > > right to change them without his approval. You should avail yourself of the conversations found in the Vedabase regarding Srila Prabhupada's disapproval of changes to his books. Many of the changes he disapproved of were very minor compared to the changes made after he left. > But you fail to understand that in some cases Srila Prabhupada ACCEPTED > changes that people proposed and in some cases he REJECTED them. The HUGE difference is that he was present to approve them or reject them. Reject some he did and that fact alone means the people proposed changes which they thought were fully acceptable but in fact were NOT acceptable to the pure devotee. Have they become equal in judgment to the pure devotee now and therefore not need to have his approval? > So my point stands- unless you can show that Krsna would > not accept the revised Gita, you are speculating and risking Vaisnava aparadha > with your criticism. I am fairly certain that Krsna would accept the revised gita as a service performed by Jayadvaita Prabhu because it is a whole lot better than so many other gita translations done by non-devotees and others. I would never suggest taking devotional service away from someone. But it should be in Jayadvaita's name NOT A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami's name because we do not know if he would approve the changes.
