You can befriend anyone in the world and you can spiritualize that relationship. Better to have a spiritual relation with a Karmi than a material one with a devotee. That statement, of course makes no sense! Karmi and devotee are just labels we put on spirit-souls, and it unfairly categorizes people sometimes to make ourselves feel better and usually to no good end.
