Still you cannot say that this propaganda was based only on false information. There're many facts, which are not exposed by Western mass media. Like in any war (we may say that the war is already began), essential part of it is competition of propagandas from both sides. >From our end we are told that Slobodan had already built up his forces in Kosovo to wipe out >the ethnic Albanians before the NATO bombing began. The situation is very similar to the conflict in Chechnya. But in that time NATO didn't make even a single step to stop Russia from killing warry Chechens, which were fighting for their independence. > Everyday we see news reports and all the refugees say that they are > fleeing from Serb atrocities. We dont see any saying they are fleeing > from NATO bombing, except what appears to be the propaganda of Milosovich. I'm not standing on Milosevich's side, and I don't consider him as a wise leader either. The problem is that bomb are not toys. You are dwelling in your house in Yugoslavia, and NATO starts to bomb your city. Maybe they dropped just a dozen of bombs, and only near military objects (although one is accidentally happened to went into hospital). Will you think that there is no problem to worry about? Well, maybe if you are fanatic devotee, you would say yes. But majority of people will panic. At least they will try to flee to another safe location. > NATO says that although it is indeed bombing Kosovo, and Serbia, it > is only aiming for Milosovich's war machine. Well, NATO will not say anything to compromise itself, isn't it? (as well as Milosevich). >I would speculate that you are seeing the propaganda that Russia wants its >people to see, because they are traditionaly Serb allies. Some beleive that >Russia actualy wants a greater war, because a good war does wonders for ones >economy, and Russia is going down fast (so we are told). I was listening Russian news, BBC news, Ukranian news. Russia wants recognition of it's political weigth, and getting angry on NATO, 'cause it ignores Russia. (Recently some Russian leaders went to Serbia to make some political dealing, which they call a peace process. So they were very saddened that when their car crossed some bridge, after several minutes it was destroyed by NATO bombs.) Some paranoid leaders in Russia even announced a crusade war against the West, and they even collect volunteers for future war. Also there is such thing, called 'slavonic unity', which was cultivated over many years, if not centuries. But truly saying, Russia is not completely propared for global war. Military resources are weakened by recent tragedy in Chechnya, but although it has less power and money than USA, for Serbia it will be sufficient. Ukraine doesn't support Russia, and cooperates with NATO (I live in Ukraine), but it wants peace as soon as possible. Ukraine was quite dissatisfied that Internatinal Currency Fund (I hope I speel it right), came to Russia with again another 'donation' of some milliard dollars (that is how West wants to calm down Russia). But about Ukraine they forgot, also it also has difficult financial situation. >Plus if it goes to war with NATO nations it would wipe out a lot >of debt to the world Bank who would become the enemy also, >pretty neat huh? War is war, and business is business. No, it will not wipe out the dept. >Who knows? We learn from the story of King Priyavrata that the qualification >for a ruler is that he does not want to rule. As Prabhupada >clearly informs us, wars are the result of cow killing and sinful activity. That was why I was amazed to see such notice from Sthita-dhi-muni Prabhu. He said that he is ever ready to defend NATO, instead of defend children, woman, and old age people. Anyway, I guess it was just temporary shortcoming. Yeah, it's a kinda strange that the West is enjoying the senses in sinful activities so long time. Maybe now it's time to reap the fruits? Maybe Krishna wants to cleanse the Earth from McDonalds and raze Hollywood and Silicon Valley. >Interesting now that Russia is making veiled threats of third world war, its >right on schedule. I wonder if this will beat Y2K as the disaster of choice? I would say that more chances that it will be not, but who knows? As one proverb says, for some people the war is a disaster, and for some others the war is a mother. ysf Oleg
