Suggestion to ISKCON temples about VCAL--and some well-deserved

Now that the Vaisnava Calendar program has been released by the BBT

for free distribution, I'd like to pass on a suggestion from my

godbrother Shyamasundara Prabhu, co-author of the program.

 

He writes:

 

> I have a humble suggestion. When the program is finally released

> it should be strongly suggested that all temples possessing the

> program print up a least 100 years worth of the calendar and bind

> it into a book for future reference in case of emergency or

> disaster. It will only cost them some time, paper and ink but

> could prove to be very valuable.

 

Also (having missed a beat and neglected to do so when we first

released the program), I'd like to thank Shyamasundara Prabhu for the

valuable service he has rendered as the original author of the

program. We're indebted to Shyamasundara Prabhu (as well as Markandeya

Rsi Prabhu) for the calendars our ISKCON centers have been using for

so many years--and further indebted now that the Calendar Program

itself is freely available.

 

Thanks also to His Holiness Bhanu Swami for his service of translating

everything needed so that Shyamasundara Prabhu could do his work. As

Shyamasundara Prabhu wrote me, "If it was not for him translating all

the appropriate material from Sanskrit and Bengali there would be no

Vaisnava Calendar."

 

And thank you to Krsna-priya Devi Dasi for the documents that come

with the program to tell about each of the festivals, saints, and

incarnations we honor throughout the year.
