Guest guest
Camp: Iskcon Krsna Balarama Mandir DaNDavats Dear Ranjit. Jaya Krishna BalarAma! Please accept my respectful obeisances. All Glories to Sreela PrabhupAda.. I sent this letter 8 days ago with no reply as of yet. (1) PCMCIA Hardlock not recognised in win 98. (2) error message "hardlock is missing"-needs adjustment (in your next upgrade) to ask, " is there a hardlock else, if yes click next? yes, no, next. then the "next" box will lead you to a wizard that guides the computer to find either the Usb lock or the pcmcia hardlock. (3) old "Prabhupada photo" vedabase + other icon(s) should be given back as alternative icon, why cramm the *only* the "vb.icon " down everybodies throat by default? or you can use the "vb" icon for the supplementary.nfo instead. Why not give us multiple icons for the different folios? Historical, pre-1965, etc. they don't take up too much space on the cd at all. I can't get my pcmcia hardlock to get recognized by win 98. I checked my slot, it's ok, because when I install a card modem in that slot, win 98 picks it up just fine. I remember that when I previously had win xp on the machine, it had inbuilt drivers who successfully recognized it on my IBM 600e thinkpad. so the problem is definitely in the old win 98 version IBM gave me that I'm running. I'm using your xp version, which on the label touts it's capability with windows 2000/me/xp versions. (I removed xp because it was too slow and IBM's techies wouldn't support it on my particular notebook). Your vedabase shows the error message, "Hardlock is missing" obviously in your vedabase program, it is only designed to look for the parrallel port hardlock. but (the error message) is not user friendly. it doesn't ask me, "I can't find your hardlock. Is the pcmcia hardlock, Or the usb hardlock put in the slot?" and allow me to check a box to tell the computer *where* the hardlock is installed. what's the use of paying $65 for a PCMCIa hardlock which is not recognised by your vedabase program? If I go to Bhakti Vaibhava classes with my IBM and I don't bring the parallel port dongle, I'm stuck. what do I do? ask your techie to write and let me know. I checked the cd files, there is no specific Hardlock pcmcia installation files, or help files, or .inf file for the pcmcia hardlock. Another option in the vedabase should be different VEdabase icons to use. You only provide the one icon you obviously want to cram down our throats. devotee sent me the old vedabase "Prabhupada photo" icon file. why did you change it for the "vb" photo without giving your users the option of keeping the ancient SP photo icon? I'll send your old dongle back with someone from the states coming for Kartika festival. but only if, you guys help me use the $65 pcmcia hardlock. if win 98 can't recognise it, what about the USB hardlock? Will it recognise it or not? Do you have it too? IF so, you can please send it (if possible) to VAisesika in Burlingame, CA or with a devotee from your area, coming to vrndvana festival and I'll buy it, swapping the dongle for it instead. Yours in the service of Krishna-BalarAma, TridaNDi BhikSu, Bhakti Visrambha MAdhava
