Each time I change the read-only attrib. on the .nfo it swaps it back again to (not) read-only. Even though the file is on an FAT partition. Another thing is that as far as i'm aware, the .nfo file is very special in that you cannot even move it, never mind copy it somewhere else, and hope that it will still work. This is because it is in some way encoded to recognise it's position on the hard drive. For this reason you (at least I) cannot keep it on a WinNT NTFS-formatted partition. Also you cannot run any defrag utils on that drive either; if you do, it means a phone call to Ekanath Prabhu in NY... Try/test it at your own risk..! Your servant, bh.
