Guest guest
I also agree. Last week I happen to come across a magazine by the " TM " people in Southern California. It's like their " Back to Godhead " version of TM. Of course can"t compare. But their TM programme, books and publications(excluding magazines) are getting onto the net. They ask for $6.00 to cover postage. The article explains that it is a non profit organisation that has been set up for this and that the project is funded by indivduals and companies. The goal of the organisation is simply to distribute the teachings of Buddha. They welcome anyone and everyone to get the free disk, and at the same time invite persons to give donations for the project. I was very impressed by their way of working. It seems we could also do things in this way. Looks like they really got the "give and you shall get" principle down. Guest guest
I also will STRONGLY putting Folio on the web! How many buy this $500 plus dollar product anyway from their personal pockets? I feel that we should disseminate SP's teachings, to one and all, without imposing any financial access barriers. your servant pradeep
Guest guest
Folio could rather be a database like Genius, Reuther or other databases available already via the net. Usually these database companies offer there service for charging for every single page of a document they are offering. If we set it up like this we might get less people wanting to know about it but on the other side those who really want to know about it, will value the informantion as something valuable and thus are more careful and responsible with it. It also facilitates the costs and expenses to maintain, preserve and improove it also in the future. If you give brochures free in front of some supermarket, many might take it and throw it in the next paper basket or even just to the ground after having received it without even reading it. If you have spent some money for a book purchased at the same place you might not throw it away because you had to spend something for it, so you value it much more and are more careful and responsible with it. So similarily we can offer some general parts or pages (glimpses) of folio accessible for free in order to give a taste (like we already have the complete Bhagavata-gita by SP on the net available for free), but the full access or download of specific documents will be on charge. Guest guest
If you're going to put Folio on the net, may I strongly reccomend you leave out sensitive parts, like letters commenting about certain politicians, as these were never meant for widespread distribution. your servant, Tribhangananda das
Guest guest
Hari bol, Prabhus! I think this will be a good strategy. However, the real issue will be how much to charge! This is essentially the issue with the current price as well. We should not view ourselves as a microsoft company out to make as much as Laxmi possible from our pockets as possible. A minimum charge (how about a subscription price of $10/year?) will avoid losing customers as well as provide revenues for the operational costs and investments in propogation. your servant pradeep On 21 Jun 1998, Hayagriva das wrote: > So similarily we can offer some general parts or pages (glimpses) of > folio accessible for free in order to give a taste (like we already have > the complete Bhagavata-gita by SP on the net available for free), but > the full access or download of specific documents will be on charge.
