Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I will also be added to the list of those who couldn't buy the upgrade. I

have a bi-directional printer port. From there, the cable runs into an HP

scanner and onto an Epson printer. I doubt the system could work with the

dongle.

Dongle Bongle

[Text 1642852 from COM]

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Yesterday I wrote a message complaining about the new "Dongle" that plugs in

the back of the computer. It is part of the new copy protection system for

the Bhaktivedanta Vedabase.

Today I'd like to apologize if I offended the devotees that worked to

produce the Vedabase. The Vedabase is, obviously, a very great contribution

to the spreading of Krsna Consciousness, and a very great asset to the Krsna

Consciousness Movement. In no way did my message intend to minimize the

sincere and hard work of the devotees that produced it.

My complaint of the Dongle is small in comparrison to the great work of

those that produced the Vedabase in the first place.

Please don't regard my complaint about the Dongle as an intention to slight

the devotees who went into producing the Vedabase. As Jayadvaita Swami says

in the manual to the new Vedabase, "The Bhaktivedanta VedaBase published by

The Bhaktivedanta Archives is a powerful tool, and like all tools it may be

used either well or badly. Used well, it can help us discover, gather, and

bring to light many teachings the scriptures and Srila Prabhupada give us."

That having been said, my wish list for the Vedabase continues to grow. I

would prefer those that develop the Vedabase to see this as constructive

criticism, like a review in a newspaper or magazine for new software, rather

than a personal attack.

One of the other features I'd like to see in the Vedabase is the ability to

strip the diacritic marks *out* so messages could be pasted direct into

e-mail without manually removing the diacritics.

Your servant,

Vipramukhya Swami
