All glories to Srila Prabhupada. >.What do we know about 'wet dreams', and what is our brahmacari position on >the matter (no pun intended)? >Your servant, >Vraja Kumara das Dear devotees, the text by the Dr R. W. Bernard is very intersting. I have found also something more on the topic of wet dreams. It is in the book titled "Practice of Brahmacrya" by Svami Sivananda. Althuogh his philosophy should be rejected, he had made some very iteresting comments on wet drems, from medical (ayurvedic) point of view. Here it is: "Causes (...) " " Wet dreams (...) maybe due to various causes like constipation, a loaded stomach, irritation -producing or wind producing food , impure thoughts and long self abuse done in ignorance. IMPORTANCE OF PROPER FOOD AND EVACUATION " MOst of the diseases take trheir origin in overeating . Observe moderation on diet. Avoid late suppers. The eveninig meal be light and eaten before 6 or 7 pm. If possible, take froits and milk only at night NO solid and or liquid should be taken after sunset. When you take milk, mix gingeressence in it. Or boil crushed ginger with milk befor taking the milk. Give up hot chutnies, garlic , onion, and pungent foodstuffs. Hot curries chilies and chutnie make the semen watery and lead to frequnet wet dreams. Take blend , soothing, non-irritating simple food. "When there is any inclination for micturition at night immediately get up to empty the bladder. A loaded bladder is the cause for wet dreams. Before retiring to bed answer the calls of nature. IF there is severe constipation and the bowels are loaded, they will press the vesiculae seminals, and cosequently, there is will be discharges at night(...) " Neverstop the urge to answer the calls of nature(...) " Sometimes, the discharges take place on account of heat in the body, excess of walking or travel, eating a large quantity of sweetmeats or chillies and salt. Give up (...) chillies, excess of sweets and sugar. Avoid dainty dishes, sauces, savouries and pastries. Have occasional fasts(...) GET UP BEFROE 4 A.M. " Make it apointto get up at least at 4 a.m. regularly. sleep on course bed. Use rogh mats. Sleep on the letf side(...) The benefits of a hip bath, " Take cold hip baths by sitting in a tub of water and keeping the legs outside the tub. THisi is very invigorating and ergising, A cold hip bath tones and soothes the nerves of the genito-urinary system and stops nocturnal discharg;es in an efficaciuos manner, This is a genaralnervine tonic as well, as allthw nerves are braced up. '' Or stand up to your navel in a river, lake or tank for half an hour in the river. " Cold douches, spinal douchas and cold shower bath are of immense use in the pracitce of brahmacarya "Sirhasana, sarvagasana, siddhasana, sukha-purvak, pranayaam and uddiyana bandha are all very effective in in aeradicating sprematorrhea."" I hope this will be of use, your servant, Grd
