Guest guest
The desire for physical or mental comfort is a great obstacle on the path of devotional progress, yet it is a trap that is easily fallen into unless the devotee is serious and alert to avoid it. In material consciousness, everyone is searching for a comfortable position within which to enjoy sense gratification unimpeded. The materialist also covets the mental comfort of considering himself a good person, and to this end may try to behave well towards others and perform some good deeds. However, complacency with one's material situation is described as demoniac by Lord Krsna in Bhagavad-gita. A devotee should not therefore be illusioned by the concept of trying to create a peaceful situation within which to serve Krsna, but rather accept the turbulence of material life as training in the realities of material existence and an impetus to transcend them by fully surrendering to Krsna. A renunciate in particular should not endeavor to create a comfortable situation for himself, but instead willingly embrace the difficulties that come of their own accord in the course of preaching Krsna consciousness.
