Guest guest
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. In the midst of the debate regarding prescribed duties of women, etc..., one thing sticks clear in my mind: The entire battle of Kuruksetra, in which we believe 360 million men died in 18 days (the largest battle in history), was caused by disrespect to a woman. Indeed, the deciding event that triggered the entire war was the incident in which Draupadi was insulted by Duhsasana and no action was taken to protect her. 360 million people died because of that single insult to a chaste lady. If we meditate on this powerful example, we should come to the conclusion that, regardless of where we stand on the position of women in ISKCON today, the act of disrespecting women, especially Vaishnavis, is suicidal. The next question we should ask ourselves is, "Am I, and, are we, in ISKCON, disrespecting the Vaishnavis, and if so, what are the inauspicious consequences, both individually and institutionally? Are we suffering from any today?" Your humble servant, Candrasekhar Acarya dasa
