Varna, Occupational duty refers to both men and women, scripturally speaking. Varna simply means occupational duty. Either a woman or a man may take up an occupational duty, and she/he assumes that varna. A lady doctor or a man doctor is nevertheless a doctor as long as she/he is trained in that occupation. I am not suggesting that women should go to office or not suggesting that they should not go to office, but just trying to tell that varna simply means occupational duty and it equally applies to man and woman, irresspective of the social position of husband, father or son, wife, mother or daughter.
