Guest guest
<> >One might argue that such behavior was suppressive or unnatural, but the Vedic culture was not meant >for "natural" material existence. It was meant for taking one back to Godhead, and for no other purpose... >>> Ref. VedaBase => "SERVANT OF THE SERVANT" CHAPTER THIRTEEN And one of the 7 purposes of ISKCON is to reestablish that sane and satisfying culture meant to take us back to Godhead; not that we attempt to establish standards of the "pioneer days" as being the absolute official ISKCON standards for the next 10K years! Hence we are meant to implement the Vedic-cultural ideals as given through Srila Prabhupada's vani. Whatever was done under Srila Prabhupada's direction in ISKCON's early days was certainly divine. But will it not be all the more divine to "cook down the ISKCON milk" into a delectably relishable sweetmeat of Vedic-cultural ideals and offer that to Srila Prabhupada and the previous acaryas? bhavatam sevakanksi, gkd
Guest guest
As others have pointed out, Prabhupada had Jamuna and other ladies lead kirtan with brahmacaris and sannyasis present. I remember in LA, some brahmacaris made a big stink about Govinda Prayers and they wrote to Srila Prabhupada who was staying in Vrindavan at the time. He was quite upset with their silly arguments and said we are listening in Vrindavan, so if it is good enough for Vrindavan, what's the problem in LA?
