Dear mother, Hare Krsna. Please accept my respectful obeisances. All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. > I downloaded texts from this conference because I was under the (false) > impression that brahmacaris' pre-occupation would be for Krishna katha. I > thought I would read nice, inspiring things. There is a nice conference at pamho.net called "(Krsna) Katha". It is only and exclusively for Krsna Katha and you can download a lot of it from there and enjoy it to your heart's content. "Brahmacarya" conference is for discussing the benefits of not associating with and the dangers of associating with women, as well as all the other things closely associated with the everyday practice of brahmacarya. Nevertheless, if you'd check the memberships of all the members of this conference you'd see that this is not the only conference they follow. They also read a nice, inspiring things on a number of other Krsna conscious conferences. I'm sure their pre-occupation IS Krsna katha. I don't remember the exact reference but I remember reading the verse in one shastra telling how one should simultaneously hear about the Supreme Lord and the loving exchanges between Him and His devotees in one hand, and in the other about the dark side of the existence in the material world. In that way he develops detachment from the material world and everything that goes with it (association with women included) and attachment for the Lord. This conference mainly focuses on the former, with the number of examples of the latter. > But no, it's all about them scary women! In all the > last 195 letters I received from this conference. Regarding "them scary women" the sastras are clear on that point. It is indeed "them scary women" for those who want to engage solely and exclusively in Lord Gauranga's service. It is against the association with women, not against the women, and especially not against the Vaisnavis. And answering the thought between the lines from your second letter - no, it is not for ecouraging irresponsibility in the name of renunciation among the male members of grhastha asrama (your former husband includeed). I'm sorry if your feelings were hurt by still being attached to the conception of being a woman and not yet fully to one of being a Vaisnavi. Don't worry, I'm no better when attachment to the conception of being a man and not a Vaisnava is concerned. Regarding the last 195 letters... About women - 99 Other things - 96 A number of letters "about women" were about marriage, horoscope, varnasrama, plus a number of them were written by ladies themselves. > Don't you find it hilarious that 99% of the letters > on the brahmacarya conference are about women. It means that among the last 195 letters it's 51% , not 99%. 99% is exaggeration. > lol. I think I made a mistake. Yes, I think you did. I'm sorry for correcting you publicly. Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada... Radhe Govinda dasa
