Guest guest
SrI SrI Guru Gaurangau Jayatah Camp: Tallinn, Estonia DaNDavats Dear HH Prahladananda swami. Jaya Krishna BalarAma! Please accept my respectful obeisances. All Glories to Sreela PrabhupAda.. Thank you for your letter. > Can you give us the statistics that show the correlation between > ironing clothes and falling down from sannyasi? Indeed Prabhupada wore ironed silken Cloth while preaching and many of his sannyasi followers certainly do and don't wear it depending on their personal outlook. My only point was: Jagadananda Pandit's advice in Prema vivarta (as quoted in Upadeshamrita is sufficient warning that we must all be careful of deha abhimana. " Bhalo na khaibe ara bhalo na paribe hrdayete radha krsna sarvada sevibe." yet demanding statistical proof doesn't distract from the point that fancy cloth can increase deha abhimana and situations that increase deha abhimana, (like oil massage- ironing cloth etc) are standard renunciates attitude should be avoided for the purpose of increasing one's time for internalizing seva, bhajana etc. One who occaisionally wears it at important preaching functions, or to meet dignitaries is one thing, but I was only praising the 99% of the time when one should down dress for showing simplicity. since there is no statistical dept in Iskcon, and No one has any time to organizing statistics in Iskcon, I'd like to stress, this comment was not intended to cast aspersions on sannyasi's who for appearance purposes may choose to preach in ironed cloth. My point was to accept the safe standard as shown by HH Radhanatha swami and group who show the safe middle ground of wearing simple "Jute" art silk cloth which looks presentable for preaching unironed, yet, looks good enough to pass for silk, and the benefits it has as well, without the fancy silk. > > Can you give us the statistics that show the correlation between > ironing clothes and falling down from sannyasi?
