Guest guest
Namas te. Jaya Sacinandana! OK, once more on COM. I would like to thank that kind devotee who posted that scientific article about continence and the relationship between semen and the nervous system. I had read a similar, shorter, article before, but this one by far surpassed it. Only one who has already lost his brain will not get the clear message of the article and decide to fully endeavor for total retention. A few days ago I found a book in the library, written by Gabrielle Brown (Ph.D.) called "The New Celibacy, Why more men and women are abstaining from sex - and enjoying it." It opens with the following statement: He that on earth from birth to death observes chastity, for him there is nothing beyond reach, know this, O herdsman of men... (from the VEDAS) The chapters are called 1 As the Pendulum Swings: Some new signs of the times (about the succesful celibates in the present society etc.) 2 The Old Celibacy (about celibacy in Hinduism, Buddhism, the Tantric tradition, Judaism, Christianity, monestaries etc.) 3 Celibacy and Love: Does abstinence make the heart grow fonder? 4 The Celibate Man 5 The Celibate Woman 6 Celibacy in Marriage: Chastity begins at home 7 Celibacy and the Growth of Consciousness 8 Attitudes for Celibacy: Letting go of sex (ideas and suggestions that may help one take a celibate 'vacation', as well as a list of benefits of celibacy) This person doesn't write about lecitin and the brain, but gives many interesting statements from other points of view. I will now read the book, and perhaps post some nice parts here if I feel like it. For those who want to read the book themselves (both brahmacaris and grihasthas) the ISBN number is 0-07-008430-0 published in 1980 by McGraw-Hill Book Company. May Sri Gauranga grant us the strength to continue our total abstinence. Your servant, bhakta Ivar.
