Guest guest
Post 2 Dear Sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, While I am happy that my article on `seethaa's capability' raised a good discussion in the list, which otherwise was not that much interesting [sri sudharsan swamin's poll also indicates that] I am also slightly unhappy for the discussion got diverted to a new topic. Actually my intention was to share and enjoy the `dhinamani vamsa' krithi of thyaagaraaja. Earlier when I wrote the continuation part also, I wanted to share and enjoy that beauty of a krithi `sreekaantha' in bhava priyaa. Sri Senthil Swamin has referred a part slokam and gave a reference that earlier aacharyaas have accepted that hanumaan is treated as aacharya and seethaa as jeevaathmaa. I just added two earlier mails in the previous post, which appeared in the lists earlier. Now I am presenting some authentic references. In the tamil commentary book on sundhara kaaNdam by sri nalloor arasanipalai desikacharyar published by sri narasimhapriya trust - page 575 volume 2 - dealing with slokam 31 sargam 36 - there is a sentence towards the end of para, which reads "yippozhudhu aachaaryan sthaanaththil niRkum mahaanaana hanumaan edhiril than vaadha paaNdithyaththai viLakkinaaL". [please refer original for what is slokam 31 and all] MGV adds – since this slOkam deals with seethaa replying to hanumaan after he gave the choodaamaNi, she is comfortable and gives her `mEdhaa' -`vaadha paaNdithyam' - to hanumaan. Subsequently she also praises hanumaan – is it aachaaryan pugazhchi – perhaps yes? [This book is a tamil version of commentary of sri govindaraja - many may or may not know sri govindaraja's commentary is in Sanskrit and that was the reliable and one of the earlier commentaries on srimadh raamayaNam – for details on commentaries of raamayaNam - please see www.valmikiramayan.net] Another point is the Sanskrit part slokam quoted by sri senthil – this is slokam 1 – 71 of "sankalpa sooryOdhayam" [sS] the `naatakam' of sri swamy dhEsikan. The slokam is dharpOdhagra dhasEndhriya aanana manOnakthancharaadhhishtithE dhEhE~smin bhava sindhhunaa parigathE dheenaam dhasam aasthitha: | adhyanvE hanumath samEna guruNaa prakhyaapithaarthha: pumaan lankaarudhdhha vidhEha raaja thanayaa nyaayEna laalapyathE || meaning as given by sri uththamoor swamy is "garvam mikka 10 thalaigaLai udaiya raavaNanaip pOnRadhu manam. Idhu thangum idamaam indha samsaarak kadal soozhndha udal. Idhil kadal soozhndha ilankaiyaip pOl dheenamaana dhasaiyil irukkum jeevaathmaa ippOdhu hanumaanaip pOnRa aachaaryaraal ellaam aRivikkappadavE theLivuRRu naadhanip peRuvadhu thiNNam enRa nambikkaiyudan adhaiyE pEsi varubavan aagiRaan". – [please refer page 76 of SS book sri swamy] A rough translation - "The mind with its 10 functional agents or components [indhriyaas] is like the 10 headed raavaNa full of pride. That mind stays in this body which is like the ocean of life [samsaarak kadal]. He, that mind, who is like seethaa when imprisoned in that lanka receives all important information about her husband raama, from an aachaarya like hanumaan, became clear, and she started believing she will get back her husband, and like that starts talking about that alone". [may be my translation is a bit crude and excuse me for that] Dhasan Vasudevan m.g. ------------------------ Sponsor --------------------~--> Get to your groups with one click.
